Most people embrace individualism and neglect to see the need and potence of community, but then when they experience defeat or struggle, they require help from the very source they’ve blatantly abandoned. Once, back on their feet, they succumb to that all-too-familiar selective amnesia again. I mentioned that to say this, you can’t forget that you’re a part of something greater than yourself. It never has or ever will be about you and you alone.
Realize that you came from somewhere. A supportive family, or a knot of loving friends, or even a quilt of diverse people masterfully stitched by God’s Hand into the fabric of your life, wealthy with wisdom to help direct your life’s walk.
Eventually, you’ll need that foundation to support you in your hour of need. It’s best, then, not to fight the very force that propels you to succeed. Respect those who have given opportunity. Show it. Live it. Honor it. Do what’s right at all times. I guarantee your life will be blessed. And then if you should stumble, the fall won’t be such a thunderous thud and others will be there to wipe the tears and mend the wounds.
